we had a great and informative session on “Lifestyle Choices Matter: The Hormone Connection” held on 17th March 2026 at 3:30 PM in the NABK conference room.
The session was led by Dr. Priya Chinappa and Dr. Shaila Bhattacharya from KES.
The session began with an introduction by Mitra, who introduced the doctors and shared their areas of specialization. Dr. Shaila, Head of Karnataka Endocrinology, explained in detail about the role of an endocrinologist and how hormones function in our body. She covered various glands such as the brain (pituitary), thyroid (neck), chest glands, adrenal glands (kidneys), and ovaries, along with their functions in both men and women. She also explained important health conditions such as thyroid disorders, insulin function, diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2), and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome), along with their symptoms and impact on health.

In addition, she guided us on how to maintain a balanced daily meal, explaining what kind of food should be taken in a day. She clearly highlighted the importance of healthy eating habits, proper sleep, regular exercise, and reduced screen time for maintaining good hormonal health.
The students, including persons with visually impaired (VI) and speech & hearing impaired (SHI), were very excited and actively participated by asking many questions. We are proud of their enthusiasm and involvement.

The session was made more engaging with the help of clear explanations and examples, making it easy to understand. Overall, it was a very insightful and awareness-building session for all participants.
