The National Association for the Blind, Karnataka (NAB-K), celebrated its 48th Founders Day on May 27, 2025, at its campus in Bangalore. The event was held in honour of Smt. Ratna Atmaram Rao, founder of NABK, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for an organisation serving the visually impaired and speech and hearing-impaired community for nearly five decades.

The program brought together staff, students, and well-wishers to commemorate Smt. Ratna Atmaram Rao’s life and contributions. The event was also attended by several special guests, including Shoba Ma’am, Latha Ma’am (Retired Senior Instructor), Muniraju (Governing Council Member, Mysore), Latha Rao (Governing Council Member), and other members of the NAB-K Governing Council.

They shared memories that reflected her empathy, commitment, and tireless efforts to make NAB-K a strong support system for the visually impaired and those with speech and hearing impairments. The speakers spoke of her hands-on involvement and deep care for every individual associated with the organisation.
Adding warmth to the occasion, students of NAB-K gave musical performances that were appreciated by all present. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of pride and remembrance. As NAB-K completes 48 years, the Founders Day celebration serves as a reminder of how one person’s dedication can leave a lasting impact. Smt. Ratna Atmaram Rao’s legacy continues to guide the mission of NAB-K, inspiring everyone to serve with empathy and responsibility.
